# 3D print calibration log: compare one test at a time

[Read as HTML](<https://letitsee.com/guides/3d-print-calibration>)

Use this log when a pile of calibration samples no longer tells you which setting helped. Give every sample an ID, keep the baseline settings, and record the result before changing anything else. For a specific fault, start with the first-layer or PETG stringing guide linked below; this page is for keeping those tests interpretable.

## Copy a record for each completed test

Write the test's success criterion before printing: for example, fewer strands between the same pair of posts. Retain the baseline preset rather than relying on memory. A comparison is easier to interpret when the printer, pattern, spool, plate, and other settings stay fixed. If you change a complete preset, record that as a bundle of changes; it cannot identify a single responsible setting.

## Example: an apparent improvement that needs a repeat

Hypothetical example: sample A has strands across three gaps. Sample B, printed after one documented setting change, has strands across one gap. Keep the two settings in the log and repeat B with the same file and spool. If sample C resembles A, the first improvement was not repeatable; do not keep adjusting from B as though its result were established. If C resembles B, retain that setting as the next comparison baseline, while recognizing that this result applies to this test and setup. This is a worked example, not a physical test we performed.

Photograph completed, cooled samples from the same angle and under similar lighting. A second still is useful only if it reveals a changed result. For dimensions, enter caliper readings and units; an image is not a dimensional measurement.

## Keep the record outside the camera session

Save the log and any photos you need in your own notes or project. A direct photo attachment is sufficient for a one-off comparison. During repeated tests, a connected MCP camera can provide a requested still of the next sample, but LetItSee is not a photo archive, a printer monitor, or a control interface. Use the printer's own documented procedures for adjustments.

## Prompt to adapt

> Here are my baseline and comparison records, plus their photos. If the latest photo is missing and my MCP camera is already connected, request one still of the completed, cooled sample. Compare the visible result against my stated success criterion. Check whether I kept the other conditions fixed. Separate an observed improvement from a repeatable result, and help me choose whether to retain the baseline, repeat this test, or test one documented parameter next. Use supplied instrument readings for measurements.

## Connect your source

Add https://letitsee.com/mcp using remote MCP, Streamable HTTP, OAuth, and image results. Sign in with the same account and choose your source. [Use a phone camera with an MCP assistant](<https://letitsee.com/guides/phone-camera-mcp>) or [Use a webcam with an MCP assistant](<https://letitsee.com/guides/webcam-mcp>) cover setup and browser requirements.

## Set up without starting a capture

[Set up your MCP client](https://letitsee.com/for-agents) with the full tool reference. The separate [capture page](https://letitsee.com/live) can replace the active capture page for your account. It does not take a photo by itself.
